UPPER SALFORD TWP (CBS) – You know the old line, “Have I got a bridge to sell you?” Well, a Montgomery County community really does.
The community is Upper Salford and they’re hoping to unload a wooden railroad trestle bridge that’s currently located on Salford Station Road. The bridge is being auctioned off on the online government auctions website, municibid.com.
Founder and CEO Greg Berry says it’s one of the more unique items they’ve had on the site and the bidding continues through Tuesday:
“They moved the railroad and they decided to sell it because they no longer had a need for it and thought that another municipality or someone might have a use for it.”
The bridge is about 30 years-old and was built by the Reading Railroad Company. The winning bidder is responsible for the removal of the bridge. Bidding starts at $100.
